Gardaí have charged a man in relation to a robbery in Tallaght on Sunday night in which staff were threatened with a syringe.

Shortly before 8.30pm, a man entered a service station in Cookstown, Tallaght, armed with a syringe. He threatened staff and made away on foot with a small amount of cash, according to gardaí.

A 34-year-old man was arrested close to the scene a short time later and an amount of cash was recovered. The scene was preserved to facilitate a technical examination.

The man was detained at Tallaght Garda Station and is due before Tallaght District Court on Monday at 10.30am.
