A man in his sixties has escaped uninjured after shots were fired at the car he was in on Friday evening in Swords, north Dublin.
The attack happened shortly after 7pm in Rathbeale Crescent as the car was pulling into a driveway.
A number of bullets hit the windscreen of the car.
The man targeted is understood to be known to gardaí and was linked to paramilitaries.
A second man in the car at the time of the shooting also escaped uninjured.
It is understood at least two gunmen were involved in the attack and they fled the scene in a a black Audi. This car was later located on fire at the back of Dublin Airport.
A Garda spokesman said no firearms had been recovered in the car. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Garda.
