Man for court over north Dublin cash-in-transit robbery

Employee threatened with metal bar during raid in Clare Hall

A 20-year-old man is due in court tomorrow in connection with an armed robbery on a cash-in-transit van in north Dublin.

A Garda spokesman said a man armed with a metal bar threatened a security worker at the Clare Hall Shopping Centre on Malahide Road at about 12.10pm yesterday. He stole a cash box containing an undisclosed sum of money before fleeing in a waiting car.

The car used in the raid was located a short distance from the scene. The cash box has not been recovered.

Gardaí from Coolock arrested a man during a follow-up operation shortly afterwards. He was being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at Coolock Garda station.
