Arrest made after cocaine seized in planned garda and customs operation at Dublin Port

Gardaí have seized cocaine with an estimated street value of €770,000 as part of an ongoing investigation targeting the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.

Some 11 kilos of the drug were found when a haulage vehicle was intercepted and searched at Dublin Port on Thursday.

A 51-year-old man was arrested for drug trafficking offences.

It is understood the vehicle had just arrived in Dublin from Holland.

Officers from Revenue Customs Service and the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau of An Garda Siochána were involved in the operation.

The arrested man is currently detained at Store Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
