A man who took part in a "savage attack" as part of an ongoing feud between two Dublin criminal gangs has been jailed for nine months.

Portlaoise resident Kenneth Roche (22) was one of a group of men who punched and kicked their victim as he lay on the ground. The attack began when another man smashed a glass into the victim's face.

Roche, formerly of Abbotstown Avenue, Finglas, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to violent disorder at the Karma Stone pub, Wexford Street, on March 13th, 2011.

His co-accused, Kristle Nolan (28), Lorcan O'Toole Park, Kimmage, Dublin, pleaded guilty to the same charge and received a nine-month sentence suspended for three years.

A third co-accused Danielle Nolan (22), The Oaks, Kilnacourt, Portarlington, Co Laois, pleaded guilty to the less serious charge of affray. She received a nine-month sentence suspended for three years.

The court heard the three accused are associates of people more involved in the feud, which was based in the Dublin 8 and Dublin 12 areas. They are not directly involved in the feud.
