Man seriously injured in Camden Street assault

Suspect believed to be in his 20s with black hair and wearing dark top and blue jeans

A young man is in a serious condition after he was beaten by another man on Dublin’s Camden Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man in his 20s suffered serious head injuries after he was assaulted by another man believed to be in his 20s close to the junction of Camden Street and Harrington Street, Dublin 2 at about 5.05am on Sunday.

The suspect, who is described as being in his 20s with black hair and wearing a dark top and blue jeans, ran in the direction of Wexford Street following the assault.

Dublin Fire Brigade was called to the scene and the injured man was taken to St James's hospital where his condition is described as serious.

Gardaí sealed off the scene for a technical examination following the incident.

It is believed a number of people gathered to help the injured man as he lay on the footpath following the attack and before the ambulance arrived.

Gardaí are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene of the assault and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Kevin Street Garda station on 01 666 9400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
