A 32-year-old man has been remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court charged with the murder of Keith Walker in Clonsilla, in Dublin, eight days ago.

Christopher McDonald, formerly of Boolavogue Road, East Wall in Dublin 3, was detained for a week under anti-gang legislation following the death of Mr Walker in what gardaí in west Dublin believe was a case of mistaken identity.

Mr Walker (35), a father of two, was shot in the head in the yard of a pigeon club on Shelerin Road, Clonsilla about 6pm as he was delivering pigeons last Friday week.

Detective Sergeant Tallon had applied for Mr McDonald to be remanded in custody and the judge remanded him to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on June 26th.

The judge also ordered he receive medical attention and granted free legal aid

Two other men who were arrested and questioned about the murder were released without charge on Saturday and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
