The parents of an 11-year-old boy in Cork city who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident have pleaded with the driver to come forward.
Zabar Harna and Felicia Covaci made the appeal after their son Pardilian was injured last week.
“How would they feel if I had done this to them, and hit one of their children and took off?” Mr Harna said.
“They could have killed my child. The child could have died if the car had been going a little faster. Why didn’t they stop?”
The fifth-class student at North Monastery School incurred serious injuries when a car knocked him down near his home in Orchard Court, Blackpool, shortly after 9pm last Wednesday. The driver fled the scene.
Pardilian was rushed to the Mercy University Hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises to his head. He also had a gash on his chest, a dislocated left kneecap and cuts, scrapes and bruises to his stomach. He was discharged from hospital on Sunday.
Gardaí recovered the vehicle involved – a silver BMW with an English registration plate – in the Shandon area two days after the incident.
It is understood a man was driving the BMW and that the car had two female passengers.
Gardaí have asked the driver of the car or anyone who may have seen the car before or after the hit-and-run to contact them at Mayfield Garda station on 021-455 8510.
