Police investigating two deaths within hours of one another in the same rural Co Fermanagh town are examining whether drugs were a factor.

Care worker Olivia Reilly (29), and unemployed Noel Reilly (36), who were not related, were found at two separate addresses in Lisnakea .

Officers are examining whether the two deaths are linked. It is understood police are also investigating a potential drugs link.

Ms Reilly, who was from the nearby Derrylin area, died at a house in the Trasna Way area of the town. An ambulance was called to the scene at about 7.30pm yesterday.

At noon today the death of Mr Reilly was reported at Carrowshee Avenue in Lisnaskea. It is understood he lived alone at the house.

Cause of deaths will not be confirmed until postmortem and toxicology examinations are conducted.

Parish priest Joseph Mullin said both families had been left devastated. “Their mothers and fathers are stunned,” he said. “The community is also very disturbed about what has happened.”

Sinn Fein MLA Sean Lynch, who lives in Lisnaskea, said: “This is tragic news and has badly affected the town, both people were well known and their passing will hit their friends and family hard. At this time our thoughts and prayers are with them.

“To lose one person is a tragedy but to lose two is an almost unbelievable scenario for the town to deal with, we have seen and met tragedy before and I very much hope that the families take some comfort from the support of their community as they come to terms with their loss and begin the grieving process in the next few days and weeks.”

Ulster Unionist MLA Tom Elliott said: “At this stage it is too early to speculate as regards possible causes, but two families and two sets of friends have lost loved ones and will be grieving. Our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.”
