Raheny gardaí investigate alleged assault on woman

Passing motorist intervened when victim grabbed by man and pulled to the ground

Gardaí in Raheny in Dublin are investigating an alleged assault on a woman in her 20s.

The alleged incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, May 3rd, between the junctions of the causeway Dollymount Beach and the Howth Road.

The woman was walking when a man grabbed her and pulled her to the ground.

A passing motorist came to the woman’s assistance and the suspected assailant ran off.

Identifying characteristics

The suspect is described as 45-50 years of age, short in stature with black hair. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms with white stripes on the legs and spoke with a Dublin accent.

The motorist, a middle-aged man, who came to the woman’s assistance dropped her at her home in Kilbarrack but did not give his name or contact details.

Gardaí said they would like to speak with this man who came to the woman’s assistance or anyone who was in the area or who may have witnessed the assault.
