Ranelagh Road was closed earlier this evening after a suspect device, which later appeared to be a hoax, was discovered.

The placing of a suspect device at a section of Ranelagh Road in Dublin on Monday appears to have been an elaborate hoax.

The all-clear was given after an Army bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the southside Dublin area.

Gardaí confirmed the all-clear was given following the assessment by the Defence Forces’ bomb disposal experts.

Traffic restrictions have been removed and backed-up rush-hour traffic was starting to move through Ranelagh again.
