Seven men remain in Garda custody in relation to a foiled armed robbery in Dublin on Friday afternoon.
The men were arrested as part of a surveillance operation by the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Unit ahead of an anticipated armed robbery attempt.
They are currently being held at four Garda stations across the north side of the city after being arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. They can be detained for a period of up to three days.
Gardaí apprehended the suspects in Artane ahead of an expected raid on a cash in transit van in the area. Three people were arrested in a vehicle on Rosemount Avenue, a further three were arrested close by and a seventh suspcet was detained sometime later.
Investigating officers recovered a number of offensive weapons at the scene, along with balaclavas and other items.
