Submissions sought on appointments

The Department of Justice is inviting submissions on reform of the judicial appointments system in advance of a deadline of January 31st.

Minister for Justice Alan Shatter, who has already begun an internal review of the system, is seeking submissions from individuals or organisations on how the appointments process might be enhanced generally and specifically in relation to eligibility for appointment; the need to ensure and protect the principle of judicial independence; promoting equality and diversity; and the role of the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board.
