Two men and a woman have been charged in connection with a burglary at a shop in Athlone, Co Westmeath.

Gardaí charged three people - two men, 21 and 49 years of age, and a 22-year-old woman - in connection with the burglary on Sunday, June 19th. A large amount of cash was taken during the robbery.

They are due to appear before Mullingar District Court on Thursday morning at 10.30am.

The 21-year-old man and the woman were arrested on Tuesday in Clara, Co Offaly, while the second man was also arrested in the Clara area on Wednesday.

All three were detained at Athlone Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
