Three due in court over Limerick ‘feet nailed to ground’ assault

Nail gun was used to fire nails through victim’s feet and into floor during attack

Three men will appear before court on Thursday in relation to a violent assault in which a man allegedly had his feet nailed to the floor at a house in Limerick city.

Gardaí said the assault on the man, who was 51-years-old a the time, took place on September 14th last year.

During a special sitting of Limerick District Court last November, Det Supt Jim Ryan told the court the man received a call on his mobile phone and was invited into the house on the south side of the city.

He said as the man entered the kitchen he was set up by a number of men wearing white boiler suits, held down and put in a sitting position on a chair.

What is believed to have been a nail gun was then used to fire a number of nails into his feet, which went through his feet and into the floor.

The man managed to escape and went to University Hospital Limerick for treatment for his injuries.

Three men, aged 52, 33 and 32-years-old, were arrested in connection with the incident and will appear at Limerick District Court.

The men are being held at Roxboro and Mayorstone Garda station.
