Three seriously injured after road incidents in Galway and Cork

Gardaí have appealed for information from anyone who witnessed a two-car collision that occurred near Corrandulla, Co Galway, on Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened on the N84 Galway to Headford Road at about 1.45pm and resulted in four people being taken to University Hospital Galway.

The female driver of one of the cars and a female rear seat passenger of the second car were described as being in a serious condition.

The two other passengers of the second car were left with injuries that were not said to be life-threatening.

The stretch of road where the crash occurred was closed on Sunday afternoon but has since reopened.

Gardaí appealed for any witnesses to contact Mill Street Garda station on 091-538000, the Garda Confidential line on 1800-666111 or to call in to any Garda station.

Cork collision

Gardaí have also appealed for witnesses to an incident in Cork city centre early on Sunday that left a female pedestrian in a critical condition in hospital.

The 32-year-old woman was critically injured when she was struck by a taxi on the South Mall in Cork city centre at about 3am.

The emergency services were alerted and the woman was taken to Cork University Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí spoke to the taxi driver at the scene of the incident and also examined CCTV footage, but they have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
