Two men have been arrested after an armed robbery in south Dublin last night.

Three men entered a supermarket at Grange Road, Rathfarnham at about 8.50pm with what witnesses said were a baseball bat and a handgun.

They threatened staff and escaped with a sum of money in a waiting car, a Garda spokesman said.

A car and suspects were located by gardaí at Whitehall Road in Churchtown a short time later.

Following a foot pursuit, two men, one in his early 30s and the other in his 20s, were arrested. A handgun was recovered.

A quantity of money was also recovered, the Garda spokesman said.

Both men are detained at Tallaght Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
