Plant had the capacity to produce 3 million litres of laundered fuel a year

Two men have been arrested after an oil laundering plant was discovered in Co Meath this evening.

Two men have been arrested after an oil laundering plant was discovered in Co Meath this evening.

Fuel and ancillary equipment was seized at the plant in Macetown, Rathfeigh. Gardaí say it had the capacity to produce 3 million litres of laundered fuel a year with an estimated loss of €1.5 million to the exchequer.

The men, aged 19 and 20, are being held under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Navan and Ashboune Garda Stations.
