A 35-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle road traffic incident in Co Mayo.

The incident occurred at 8am on Thursday, when the man's car left the road on the R327 near Cloonfad and entered the Dalgan River.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Mayo University Hospital for a postmortem.

Garda forensic investigators have examined the scene of the crash.

Donegal crash

A woman has died following a separate road traffic incident in Co Donegal on Wednesday morning.

The woman (30) was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital after a two-vehicle collision at 8.30am on the N13 at Castleforward, Newtowncunningham.

The woman was the driver of one of the cars.

The driver of the second car, a man in his 40s, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
