Two men are due before court this morning in connection with two robberies in Tallaght on Tuesday afternoon.

The men, aged 32 and 34 years old, were arrested as part of a Garda investigation into the robberies which took place in the South Dublin town between 4.15pm and 4.40pm.

Gardaí received a report of a robbery at a post office in Glenview at about 4.15pm. A man entered the premises allegedly in possession of a hatchet and threatened staff and customers before leaving the premises with a small amount of cash. He left the scene in a car.

Shortly afterwards, at about 4.40pm, a man entered a premises on Old Bawn Way. The man was allegedly in possession of a hatchet. Gardaí said he threatened staff before leaving the scene in a car with a large amount of cash.

Gardaí located the car and arrested two men following a foot pursuit. The men were detained at Tallaght Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

A sum of money and a hatchet were recovered and no injuries were reported. Both crime scenes were preserved for technical examinations.
