Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with the fatal shooting of Benny Whitehouse close to a school in Dublin last September.
Mr Whitehouse (36), was shot on Clonard Street in Balbriggan on September 25th shortly after dropping his six year-old daughter to a nearby national school.
He had previous convictions in relation to criminal activity, and it is believed the incident, in which his wife also sustained gun wounds, was in relation to a feud between rival factions within the area’s travelling community.
The men, aged 34 and 28, were arrested on Monday night in Co Dublin in connection with Mr Whitehouse’s death.
They are being detained in Balbriggan and Swords Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 50 - Criminal Justice Act 2007.
Officials said the investigation into Mr Whitehouse’s death are ongoing.
In February, Gardaí arrested a man (39) in Ardee, Co Louth in relation to the shooting.
