A taxi driver was robbed and had his car stolen in a hijacking in Co Kildare early on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the Curragh shortly after 3.30am when two men who were travelling in the car turned on the driver, who is in his 60s, as they drove along the R413 Kildare to Newbridge road.
They took the driver's phone and wallet and then ordered him out of the taxi, a silver Toyota Camry with a 04 D registration, before fleeing the scene.
Gardaí said that one of the men was said to have been armed with a handgun.
The men were in their early 20s and both spoke with strong Dublin accents, gardaí said.
“One wore a white jacket and the other wore a green jacket, both had hoods.”
Gardaí are keen to speak to anyone who may have been on Dublin Street in Kildare Town between 3.15am and 3.30am on Saturday morning.
They also want to hear from people who may have seen anything on the R413 between Kildare Town and Newbridge from 3.30am to 4am.
