Two-year-old girl in serious condition after ‘hit and run’

Man (24) arrested short time after incident and being detained at Cabra Garda station

Gardaí at Cabra in north Dublin are investigating what they have described as "a serious hit and run collision" which occurred on the North Road, Phoenix Park, at approximately 6.25pm on Monday.

A two-year-old girl was struck by a car which failed to stop at the scene.

Arrest

The child was removed to the Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street, in a serious condition, said gardaí.

A 24-year-old man was arrested a short time later in relation to the incident and was being detained at Cabra Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí said investigations are continuing.
