Wine worth €11,000 has been seized by the Customs officials at Dublin Port after officers stopped and searched a Transit van.
The 786 litres of red and white wine represent an estimated potential loss to the Exchequer of €5,400 if sold on the black market.

A spokeswoman said the van was searched as a result of routine profiling. it had arrived in Dublin port from France via Holyhead in Wales on Wednesday.
“This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of alcohol in the shadow economy”, the spokeswoman added.
