Woman arrested as part of investigation into Kivlehan murder

Musician died as a result of stab wounds in Sligo on August 3rd

Six people have been arrested to date as part of investigation into murder of musician Martin Kivlehan.

A woman in her 30s has been arrested by gardaí investigating the murder of Martin Kivlehan in Sligo.

The woman – in her late 30s – was arrested in Co Sligo on Wednesday morning and is currently detained at Sligo Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.

She is the sixth person arrested to date as part of the investigation.

The body of musician Mr Kivlehan (59) was discovered at his home on Holborn Street in the town on August 3rd.

A knife was recovered by gardaí in the area. A postmortem later confirmed Mr Kivlehan died as a result of stab wounds.

Mr Kivlehan, who was well known as a musician, was also a skilled carpenter and cabinetmaker.
