Woman injured in bid to save puppy from Antrim fire

Victim tried in vain to rescue animal after suspected arson attack

Police in Lisburn are appealing for information after a woman was injured trying to extinguish a fire started by arson in a van.

The incident happened in the Main Street area of Glenav, Co Antrim, in the early hours of this morning, the PSNI said.

At about 3.20am, police received a report that a white Ford Transit van parked in the street was on fire.

A woman was taken to hospital for treatment after she tried to extinguish the fire.

A three-month old pup that was in the van at the time died as a result.

Police asked anyone with any informationto contact Lisburn police station.
