Woman who entered Mayo school with knife freed without charge

Incident happened this morning at St Muredach’s College in Ballina

A woman who allegedly entered a school and threatened a staff member with a knife in Ballina, Co Mayo has been released without charge.

The incident took place this morning at St Muredach’s College, an all-boys secondary school.

The woman (52) was arrested at the scene and taken to Ballina Garda station. Gardaí confirmed they are investigating the incident and that nobody was injured.

The school issued a statement on its website. “The school management of St Muredach’s College can confirm that an unauthorised person was removed from the school by An Garda Síochána this morning,” it said.
