A New York-based property developer is planning a huge multi-million pound golf development with a championship course straddling the Border.

Mr Peter Quinn, former president of the Gaelic Athletic Association, the former British Open champion Nick Price and golf course architect Mr Patrick Merrigan have been hired by Mr Pat Donaghy to work on the £15 million project at Favor Royal Demense between Augher and Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone.

Three of the fairways will cross the Border, with one green and two tees in Co Monaghan.

A decision on a planning application is expected by late summer and once the go-ahead is given work will start immediately.
