About 20 cars were crushed at Mallusk, Co Antrim, when their owners failed to retrieve them and pay outstanding motor-tax licences in addition to fines.
The Driver Vehicle Licensing Northern Ireland authority said the scheme to clamp down on motor-tax evaders had been successful.
There had been a 14 per cent increase in the number of licences issued since it started the scheme at the beginning of the year.
