Crystal Palace have turned down a £3 million bid for striker Clinton Morrison from English first Division rivals Wolves.

Crystal Palace have turned down a £3 million bid for striker Clinton Morrison from English first Division rivals Wolves.

The 22-year-old stiker, who recently pledged his international future to the Republic of Ireland, scored 19 goals as Palace narrowly survived relegation to Division Two.

A statement from the club read: "Palace chairman Simon Jordan has turned down a bid of £3 million from Wolverhampton Wanderers for striker Clinton Morrison."

Morrison scored the first goal in yesterday's warm-up game between the Republic of Ireland senior team and the under-21's ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Portugal.

The game was played behind closed doors and finished 1-1.David Connolly scored for the senior team.

Meanwhile Palace are expected to unveil Steve Bruce as their new manager at a press conference today.
