Creative storytelling, drama, hip-hop dance classes and sculpture workshops will be among the free events on offer for kids in Dublin this July and August.
Children aged nine to 12 are invited to take part in a variety of arts and crafts workshops each Thursday in Temple Bar.
Children can learn how to create their own print and frame it or try their hand at making funky musical instruments from old junk.
The ‘Culture Club for Kids’ run by the Temple Bar Cultural Trust aims to promote the arts among children by providing them with alternatives to traditional crafts such as painting, programme manager Eimear Chaomhánach said.
“The club is also a great way to keep kids entertained during the summer months and with many families opting for a staycation this year, there will be lots of hours to fill,” she added.
The workshops, which are all free of charge, give children the chance to meet other children of similar age to them outside of school.
She said the club had received a really good response from primary school children so far, with more than 100 places already filled, but added “there’s still plenty more”.
