THE SCIENCE Gallery opened at Trinity College Dublin in January 2008.
TechnoThreadswas its second major exhibition.
Exploring the connections between science and fashion, TechnoThreadsexamined how fashion designers are incorporating developments in science, technology and engineering in their work.
On show between April 26th and July 25th this year, it aimed to illustrate the impact of science on fashion for a young audience.
The exhibition attracted some 33,000 visitors over the course of its run, with the Science Gallery also organising a range of workshops and talks on themes that included the future of fashion, insulating materials and a Swap-O-Rama-Rama where visitors recycled and changed their clothing using new technologies.
Funded by the gallery's partners and supporters Ulster Bank, Dell, Google, Icon, Paccar, Wyeth and Dast, Techno Threads was created by Marie O'Mahony, co-author of the Techno Textiles series of books, and further developed by a curatorial team that included experts from the fashion and design field working alongside nanoscientists and geneticists.
