A man in his 30s died when he was struck by a car in Co Clare today.
The collision happened at around 3.30pm, a Garda statement said.
The man was fatally injured when he was struck by a car on the northbound lane of the N18 ( Limerick to Ennis Road) at Carrigaron, Co Clare.
He was accompanied by another male cyclist who was uninjured. The driver of the car was also uninjured, the Garda statement added.
"The road has been closed for technical examination and diversions are in place."
Gardaí at Newmarket-on-Fergus are investigating.
Separately, a man killed in a crash between a car and a tractor on the main Dublin to Kells (N3) road yesterday afternoon has been named by gardaí this evening as Patrick Fitzsimons (41), of Arbraccan, Navan, Co Meath.
The driver of the tractor was uninjured.
Some 140 people have been killed in road crashes to date this year.
