A cyclist was seriously injured in an incident in west Dublin yesterday evening.

A cyclist was seriously injured in an incident in west Dublin yesterday evening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the man (40) was found injured lying in the outbound buslane of the Chapelizod bypass at 6.30pm.

"He had sustained serious head injuries and was removed to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown," a Garda spokesman said.

"No witnesses have come forward and it is not clear at this stage if any other vehicle was involved."

Gardai say the road would have been busy at that time and have appealed any witnesses to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station.
