Gordon D'Arcy remains in contention to line out against Scotland in Ireland’s final Six Nations game at Croke Park on Saturday, despite “deep bruising” above his left knee sustained in the win over Wales.
The Leinster centre left the field after 24 minutes following a tackle on Lions centre Jamie Roberts and his injury is being “monitored and treated by the medical team”, according to an IRFU statement.
“He is not ruled out of selection for the Scotland game at this point.”
Double try-scorer Keith Earls, who moved to outside centre after D’Arcy’s departure, has “tightened calves and will also be treated and monitored throughout the week”, though the prognosis is more positive and the Munsterman “should be fit for selection”.
Flanker David Wallace “received an accidental scratch to his eye” and he too is being watched closely.
The squad will have a light training session at Killiney Golf Course this afternoon after a press conference at the team hotel at 1pm.
Ireland will secure their fifth Triple Crown in seven seasons if they beat Scotland, while an outside chance of a championship win remains, but it depends on an unlikely English win in Paris and a 51-point swing on France.
