The transfer of 120 workers from Dairygold's administrative base in north Cork to the Cork Airport Business Park remains firmly on schedule, a spokesman for the company confirmed last night. Louise Guiney reports.
There had been speculation that the company was considering reversing its earlier decision.
Sources indicated to The Irish Times last night that they believed the company would allow workers to choose whether they would relocate to the airport business park or stay in Mallow and Mitchelstown.
Earlier, Mitchelstown Business Association expressed its disappointment with the outcome of a meeting with Dairygold.
The association had hoped to persuade the company to consider alternatives to the relocation of its administrative base.
After the meeting the chairman of the association, Mr Tony Lewis, said the outcome was "very disappointing".
There had been speculation last night that the company had backtracked from its original hardline stance following a meeting of the company's board of directors yesterday.
Claims were made that the meeting of the board was a stormy one and that a number of directors, including chief executive Mr Jerry Henchy, had threatened to resign from the board over the relocation.
However, this was denied by a spokesman for the company who said the board meeting was "one of the most productive and constructive of the year".
The spokesman said the chief executive had no intention of resigning.
"The move to Cork will be carried out without any change," the spokesman said.
