Dairygold is to establish a new €15.6 million research and development centre in Mitchelstown.
The Applied Food Sciences centre - which will specialise in developing consumer food products - will be operational in 2007 and employ 15 staff, increasing Dairygold’s research staff to 30.
The centre has a capacity for a total of 50 personnel, and Dairygold says it is expected that this capacity will be reached after 2007.
Dairygold chief executive Jerry Henchy says the company's objective is to lead the way in the development of innovative new value added food products.
