Clare All-Ireland-winning captain Anthony Daly has been handed the task of reviving Dublin's hurling fortunes after the county board confirmed that the will be proposed as manager on a two-year tenure.
The three-time All Star led Clare to the 1995 All-Ireland crown where the Banner County defeated Offaly and also captained the side in their victory over Tipperary in 1997.
The Clarecastle native retired from inter-county hurling in 2000, but made a return as manager three years later when he took over the reins of his native county.
He brought the side to two All-Ireland semi-finals, losing by one point Cork in 2005 after leading the game by six at one stage. He stepped down from the post after losing to Kilkenny in the 2006 semi-final.
Daly, 38, is expected to be unveiled as Tommy Naughton's successor following a county board meeting tomorrow night.
