The widow and children of a man who died after suffering serious crush injuries while standing on a forklift have been awarded €349,600 damages at the High Court.

Just days before her husband died, Rasa Valteriene had bought tickets for herself and the couple’s two children to leave their native Lithuania and join him in New Ross, Co Wexford.

Ms Valteriene had sued Harte Design Ltd and Emmet Delaney, Brocurra, Adamstown, Co Wexford, the driver of the forklift, over the incident which occurred on April 22nd, 2006, at the premises of Harte Design at New Ross, Co Wexford.

Her husband, Rimydas Valteras, then an employee of Harte Design, was standing on the forklift when it crashed into shelving, causing fatal crush injuries to Mr Valteras.
