London - The 12-year-old daughter of newspaper agony aunt Anne Atkins, who went missing from her home, has been found safe and well. Her mother said she was "thrilled to bits" to have her daughter, Adelaide, home again.

Ms Atkins, a columnist for the Daily Telegraph, would give few clues as to what her daughter had been up to. "She went for an adventure and she has had an adventure." Police found her in Hammersmith, west London, after receiving a tip-off following a public appeal.

She had left a note on the kitchen table saying "Back shortly, don't worry". Her father, the Rev Shaun Atkins, did not find it when he left before 8 a.m. to take the early morning service at St Dionis church, Fulham. Her parents called police at 1.30 p.m. when Adelaide did not show up for church or for lunch.
