The daughter of Ray Salinger, who was shot dead in Dublin on Tuesday night, has strenuously denied media allegations that her father was in any way involved in the drugs trade.
Ms Jade Salinger told presenter Adrian Kennedy on FM 104 last night that he was a "hard-working father" who may have been the victim of mistaken identity.
While claiming she had her own theories as to why her father was shot dead, she said she believed the gardaí also knew the "truth" about why he was murdered.
Man critical after stab wound to neck
A 27-year-old Ennis man was last night described as being in a critical condition after sustaining a serious stab wound to his neck during a row which took place in an Ennis housing estate at lunchtime yesterday, reports Gordon Deegan.
Supt John Kerin of Ennis Garda station said a 35-year- old man from Ennis, Co Clare, was last night being questioned in relation to the incident which took place in a house on Childers Road, Cloughleigh, yesterday.
A spokeswoman at Ennis General Hospital said last night that the victim was in a critical condition and was undergoing emergency surgery.
