DC Thomson, the Scotland-based publisher of the Beano and Dandy children's comics, said today it had raised its stake in Scottish Radio Holdings to almost 9.6 per cent.

The privately owned Dundee publisher, picked up 431,000 shares in Scottish Radio at 1,725 pence per share yesterday, taking its holding to almost 3.16 million.

Scottish Radio, with substantial holdings in the Irish media market including; Ireland on Sundaythe Tullamore Tribuneand the Kilkenny Peoplegroup also has a 22 per cent of Today FM.

Yesterday the company said it was still in talks with a number of parties which could lead to an offer.

Scottish Radio's shares, which have outperformed the media and photography sector by more than nine percent over the past 12 months, were down 20 pence sterling or 1.2 per cent at 1,705 pence at 14.30 (GMT), valuing the group at £563 million ($822 million).
