Tipton - The world may be watching the recount of the US presidential vote in Florida, but in Tipton, Iowa, they have got a conundrum of their own.
The seat of Cedar County - the only county in the nation where the contest between Mr Bush and Mr Gore ended in a dead heat - Tipton was the focus of huge media attention yesterday.
The US press corps descended on this town as county auditors began an official canvass of all the ballots cast last week to see if either candidate garnered more than the 4,025 votes chalked up to them on election night.
"It's a hot topic," said Ms Florence Deerberg, in Clarence, Iowa, in north-east Cedar County. "I guess everyone expected it to be close, but not this close."
