LONDON - Ground staff at Gatwick Airport near London, yesterday found the body of a boy in the wheel compartment of a passenger plane just arrived from Nairobi.

British Airways said they had begun an inquiry into how the boy, described by police as "of African appearance", had apparently managed to stow away in the Boeing 747.

In another incident, a stowaway survived 10 hours in the undercarriage of a British Airways jumbo jet with temperatures falling as low as minus 40 degrees Centigrade last October. Mr Pardeep Saini (22) was found suffering from hypothermia by baggage handlers at Heathrow following the flight from Delhi to London.
