John Oxx gained some compensation for the disappointing run of Pugin in the Rothmans Royals St Leger when Dearly lifted the Group Three Aga Khan Studs Blandford Stakes at the Curragh this afternoon.
Oxx said Pugin ran "a little bit flat" when unplaced in the Doncaster Classic won by Milan.
He now he plans to run Pugin, who had run Jefferson Smurfit Memorial Irish St Leger winner Vinnie Roe to a head on his previous race, in a Listed race at the Curragh on October 14.
Oxx saddled four in the Blandford but was not surprised to see Dearly come fast and late for Fran Berry to beat Affianced by a head.
The British raider Tarfshi was a short head away third after Frankie Dettori had looked to have stolen the race two furlongs out when he poached a three- length lead on the Michael Jarvis-trained filly.
"Dearly was the best home worker of mine and has been going really well of late," said Oxx.
