The death has been announced of Chalmers (Terry) Trench, founding secretary and former president of An Óige, the youth hostel organisation.
Mr Trench, who lived in Slane, Co Meath, was 95.
He had a life-long association with the youth hostel movement, attending its first international conferences in the 1930s, and serving on An Óige's national council for over 50 years.
He is survived by his children, Fiachra, Brian, Beatrice and Patrick.
