A WELL-KNOWN campaigner against local authority service charges in Cork died suddenly yesterday.
Paddy Mulcahy was among five campaigners jailed in relation to service charges in the 1990s.
In 1991, he served a short sentence for refusing to pay water charges alongside Ted Tynan, Tim Healy, Brendan O’Neill and Maura Burke.
Mr Mulcahy, who was in his 50s, was a prominent member of the Householders Against Service Charges group.

Their campaign was high profile in Cork in the 1990s and came to public attention again 10 years later following the introduction of refuse charges.
The campaign to oppose service charges started in 1983.
