A decision is expected today on whether to raise the sunken fishing boat Rising Sunfrom the seabed off the Wexford coast.
Officials from the Coastguard, Department of the Marine and the Navy are meeting with the family members of the victims who died when the Rising Sunsank off the Great Saltee Island on November 29th.
The incident claimed the lives of skipper Pat Colfer, (37), Slade, Co Wexford, and crewman Jimmy Meyler (46), Ballyhack, Co Wexford, who was rescued with colleague Ian Tierney, but who later died of hypothermia.
Mr Colfer's body has not been found.
The Minister of State for the marine Mr Pat the Cope Gallagher has said he has been assured by the Naval Service that there was no sign of the body of Mr Colfer on the wreck of the sunken vessel, and he did not see the need to lift it, as Naval Service divers had searched it and the surrounding area.
Also, the Marine Casualty Investigation Board, the independent statutory body which is investigating the incident, has not requested that it be lifted.
It is understood that the investigation board is drawing on Naval Service diver reports and an interview with the surviving crew member, Ian Tierney, as part of its inquiry.
The decision is expected sometime this afternoon.
