Valencia defender Roberto Ayala has issued a 'come and get me' plea to Manchester United.
The Argentina international has also been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks but insists Old Trafford would be his preferred destination.
Ayala told the Sunday Mirror:"I turned down Liverpool because my opinion is that if I leave Valencia it will be for a bigger club.
"Manchester United are different. They are the kind of club who interest me a lot. If they came in it would be impossible to say no - I think I would be a success there."
United are currently short of defensive options with Wes Brown and Gary Neville out injured and having lost Laurent Blanc and David May in the close-season.
However, chief executive Peter Kenyon suggested yesterday that United are unlikely to sign more players before the Champions League transfer deadline at the end of the month.
