A number of trains were delayed this morning after a van crashed through a level crossing on the railway line at Oranmore, Co Galway.
A spokeswoman for Iarnrod Éireann confirmed that a truck hit the level crossing shortly before 8am.
She said trains were held back and there were “quite a few delays”. There was also some damage caused to the barrier at the crossing, she said.
Two Irish Rail staff members have been posted at the level crossing for the rest of the day while the damage is repaired.
